Purchasing a katana always seems like such a good idea on the surface level. After watching Kill Bill 1. I convinced myself that I needed a katana, not just any katana but a Hattori Hanzō katana. I pictured myself, katana by my side, ladies dropped off of me as they feed me lobster rolls and filet mignon. I would fight off of the evil doers of the world and I’d become a real life Batman. It would’ve been the bee’s knees but then reality set in. Where would I train to become a master Samurai? Is being a master Samurai even practical? Realistically how many times will I be put in a situation where I’d need to use a katana? If I even did become a master Samurai I’d need to somehow make money and being a master Samurai isn’t exactly something that I could find on jobhunter. Would I ever even be in a situation where I even needed a katana? Yes, I would, as this man, no hero proved to me. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a trip to Japan I need to book.
