There’s something about a highly organized Street MMA bout with a crying dog on a dilapidated basketball court somewhere in the Philippines that looks like a level from Streets of Rage. I just can’t put my finger on what, though. Maybe I should stop searching desperately for a higher meaning (the ‘lesson’ in A Lesson in Street MMA doesn’t always deliver), and maybe we could just fall back on the irony that everything is perfect about this fight… The evenly matched fight, the ref, the announcer, the gasping crowd…
Other than that damned horizontal filming from cameraman #1. But then again, maybe they don’t have the ability to shoot in widescreen format in this village.
