Terence McKenna once said that virtual reality represented a psychedelic merge between reality and technology. If only McKenna were alive to see this demo of the Oculus Rift VR headset then he would undoubtedly respond with something witty, like ‘Wow!’
We’ve told you about Oculus Rift on MiddleEasy in the past. It’s the virtual reality headset that is slated to dominate all aspects of entertainment and make televisions virtually useless in the near future. Oculus Rift was invented last year by Palmer Luckey and since then he’s raised over $16 million to develop this incredible device.
Consumers still have to wait to scoop up the device, and with no set release date announced, your best hope at getting your hands on one of these things is to apply for a developer kit on the company’s official page.
A development demo for the Oculus Rift was released a couple days ago by Infinite Realities called Hydradeck Humans which took 3D scans of real models in ultra-high detail and placed them in an open world of your choosing. When combined with a Razer Hydra controller, you get one of the most realistic virtual reality experiences on record. Check it out below and props to DENV3RtheDESTROY3R for the +100 news tip.
