Dominick Reyes looks to continue his light heavyweight resurgence when he steps into the main event spotlight at UFC Perth for a high-stakes scrap against surging contender Carlos Ulberg.
Riding a three-fight win streak, Reyes could very well be one big win away from another crack at the division’s biggest prize. But to get there, he’ll have to go through Ulberg—a fighter who hasn’t lost in his last eight outings and has his sights set on scoring his own title opportunity.
Round 1
Ulberg starts things off with a stiff calf kick. Reyes gives him one right back. Thus far, both fighters have been very hesitant to engage, with Ulberg controlling the center of the Octagon. Ulberg throws a one-two that partially connects. Reyes throws a high kick, but he’s too far out of range. Ulberg makes him pay with another calf kick. Ulberg swings with a right hand, but misses the mark.
Ulberg stalks forward as Reyes circles the cage. Ulberg rips to the body. Ulberg throws a one-two that catches Reyes clean and sends him crashing to the canvas. Ulberg follows up with a couple of vicious shots on the ground, knocking Reyes out cold and forcing the referee to step in.
