Following a loss in his last outing, Bubba Jenkins looked to get back in the winning column against Chris Wade at PFL 1: 2023 Regular Season.
PFL 1 2023 Regular Season: Chris Wade vs Bubba Jenkins
Round 1
Jenkins throws a high kick to the guard. Wade defends and eats a jab. Bubba shoots for a takedown and gets Wade down off the fence. He’s wrapping Wade’s legs to control the lower levers. He keeps Wade down and punches at the body. Bubba gets up and lands two knee strikes. Bubba gets Wade’s back. He’s looking for a submission with Wade’s arm but doesn’t get it. Wade does well to counter and gets on top now. Bubba reverses position. Bubba throws a knee to the body but it looked like it was to the head of a downed fighter, leading the ref to call for a time-out from the perceived illegal strike. Ref gets them back in a similar position and restarts the bout. Jenkins is on top looking to keep Wade down. He gets Wade’s back while he gets up. Bubba takes him down again and gets a hook in. Wade is trying to turn but may give up his back in the process and he does. Bubba locks in from the back.
Round 2
Bubba opens with a high kick. Wade kicks to the body. Bubba moves forward with a 1-2 and shoots for a takedown. Wade gets him locked in. Bubba may be in trouble. He moves across the fence while in the choke position to relieve some pressure off. Wade lets it go. Bubba takes side position and pressures Wade’s jaw with his shoulder. Wade moves around and Bubba follows to get his back. Wade flips around against the cage with Bubba holding him. He throws one hook in from the back. Jenkins takes side control and throws knee strikes and hammer fists to end the round.
Round 3
Wade with a low kick. Eye poke from Bubba calls for a timeout. Bubba sprints at Wade at the restart. Bubba kicks to the body, jabs down, and shoots for a takedown. Wade wraps around the arms of Jenkins. Jenkins looking to get the mount. He takes the back and humps Wade briefly. Bubba gets a hook in and maintains control on the back. Wade manages to get up. Bubba lands a nice knee to the body and gets Wade back down. Wade looking for the head and arm choke but unlikely in the position. Bubba gets his head out and keeps pressuring Wade against the cage. Bubba stands up and lands punches at the end.
Official Result: Bubba Jenkins defeats Chris Wade by unanimous decision (30-27 x3).
