- Conor McGregor blasted the Nurmagomedovs after Usman beat Paul Hughes at PFL Dubai
- “Big News” was convinced he should’ve been declared the winner
Conor McGregor ranted about the Nurmagomedovs after his fellow Irishman Paul Hughes lost to Usman at PFL Dubai.
Conor fired shots at the Nurmagomedovs
The highly-anticipated showdown between Hughes and Nurmagomedov played out as expected. Despite Nurmagomedov doubting Huhges’ title shot credibility, “Big News” proved that he was worthy of a crack at PFL gold.
The fight went to distance and though many though Hughes won, the judges gave Nurmagomedov the nod. Unsurprisingly, “Notorious” wasn’t happy about it. McGregor then fired shots at the Nurmagomedovs on social media.
“Tremendous fight and performance! Easy win for Hughes, he DOMINATED THAT FIGHT. And Umar exactly what it says on the tin, a Nurmagamedov. Runner, sprinter, bolter, scarper, scurrying “fighter”.
The Nurmagomedovs are not fighters. They are the most non fighting fighters out of Dagestan and all time. Run away around the cage and shoot ass bitches.Dagestan is better than the Nurmagomedovs and that is a FACT!,” the former UFC double champion wrote on X.

Hughes believes he won
Moments after his devastating decision loss to Nurmagomedov, Hughes shared his thoughts on the seemingly controversial fight. According to “Big News,” he’s not gonna whine about it but from his viewpoint, he should’ve gotten the win.
“We all thought I won that one,” Hughes said on Instagram. “I think the judges’ scorecards were pretty ridiculous. But I’ll watch it back with a clear mind. I’m just judging from the energy of the arena and everyone surrounding the cage that thought it was mine. I’m not going to make excuses, though. I should’ve pushed harder. And I will the next time. I know we’ll fight again.”
Nurmagomedov vs. Hughes gained more traction and was intensified by Khabib’s harsh comments about Irish MMA. This appeared to have reignited his feud with McGregor, who has been very supportive of Irish fighters.
As it stands, the win saw Nurmagomedov defending his lightweight title. On the other hand, Hughes snapped his seven-fight winning streak.
