The Former UFC Flyweight Champ Demetrious Johnson Out-Duels Tatsumitsu Wada!

ONE Championship: Dawn of Heroes takes place at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines today (Friday, August 2, 2019). Welcome to the Flyweight World Grand Prix semi-final bout between the former UFC 125-pound king Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and incredibly tough tall Japanese mixed martial artist Tatsumitsu Wada. The referee in charge of this competition is Kemp Cheng.

Round 1

Demetrious Johnson kneeled, it seems he’s trying to confuse his opponent. Both fighters are very cautious, Johnson in the southpaw stance. Wada landed a kick, while Demetrious delivered a combo and went for a takedown. Demetrious spins in the guard, Wada retakes his back. 10-9 Wada.

Round 2

Wada feints a takedown, a lot of feints on both sides. Body kicks on both sides, and more body blows. Nice double leg takedown for Johnson, the Japanese had a guillotine, but he lets it go. Not too much ground work, unsure who won this round, I’d say Johnson 10-9.

Round 3

Early head kick Johnson, leg kicks, followed by a kick to the mid-section. Johnson catches a kick, goes for a takedown. Elbow Johnson, who passes to side control. The Japanese rolls back, Johnson threatens with a front choke.

Wada is on his knees, Johnson is looking for the back, suplex attempt stopped! Side control, Wada fired a knee, but he is taken to the ground again. Wada eats body shot, hard-right punch Demetrious. The end of the round, 10-9 Johnson.

Final Result: Demetrious Johnson defeats Tatsumitsu Wada via unanimous decision

Here are the highlights:

Demetrious Johnson improves the score to 29-3-1 MMA, 2-0 ONE FC , Tatsumitsu Wada 21-11-2, 1 NC MMA; 2-2 ONE FC.
