A soccer player decided to break out some of his Muay Thai skills on the pitch.

Though it’s one of the most popular sports in the world, soccer is not necessarily known for its physicality. Throughout the course of a match, you’ll usually see players flying and flopping all over the place at the first sign of contact in hopes of getting an opposing player penalized.

Bangkok FC’s Aitsaret Noichaiboon took a different approach.

North Bangkok University FC’s Supasan Ruangsuphanimi appeared to clip Aitsaret’s heel in the closing minutes of their Thai League 3 matchup. The whole thing looked like an honest mistake, but Aitsaret clearly didn’t take it that way.

Aitsaret promptly charged at Supasan and landed a Muay Thai-style elbow that dropped the defender. Check out the clip below courtesy of @HappyPunch on X

Per reports, Supasan suffered a shattered jaw and required two dozen stitches to repair the damage.

Aitsaret Noichaiboon Slapped with Three-Year Ban Following Brutal Muay Thai Elbow During Soccer Game

Aitsaret received a straight red card and was ejected from the game. His contract with Bangkok FC was terminated an hour later and he was slapped with a three-year ban. Aitsaret issued an apology when the two footballers met face-to-face at a Football Association hearing three days following the incident.

“It’s because of a quick temper and I know it is not normal,” He explained through a translator. “He was saying things about my parents throughout the game and he insulted me a lot until the incident. When he kicked me, the ball had already left the field and he didn’t apologize.

“I’m sorry for what I did next. Everything happened so fast. I have gained an invaluable experience so I will never do anything like that again. I am trying to do my best every day and live a conscious life.”

Aitsaret was also fined by the police and warned that any further offenses over the next two years would result in a prison sentence.

With his soccer career on hold perhaps he could have a future in ONE Championship
