Selina Flores is not treating Stamp Fairtex like an untouchable star. Ahead of their atomweight Muay Thai main event at ONE Fight Night 47, Flores said her film study convinced her that Stamp can be hurt—and that a finish could send the American directly toward ONE Championship gold.
The matchup headlines Friday’s card at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. The event streams in U.S. primetime on Prime Video at 9 p.m. ET on September 4. Flores enters on a five-fight winning streak after beating Marie McManamon by unanimous decision in her ONE debut, while Stamp is building back after a long injury layoff and a recent win over Cynthia Flores.
Flores said she accepted the opportunity immediately:
“My manager asked me if I wanted to fight Stamp, and I was just like, ‘Yes, absolutely!’ I was so excited. I want to have these opportunities to prove myself and continue to build my name in ONE. This fight is a great stepping stone for me to prove myself.”
The Stamp Fairtex vs. Selina Flores booking now carries a sharper edge. Flores says she has prepared for Stamp at her best, not for a diminished version of the former three-sport champion.
“I am expecting the best version of Stamp. Whether people think she’s better before or whatever, I don’t really care about that. I am preparing for the sharpest, best, quickest, and most technical version of Stamp. I’m preparing for that because that’s what I want. When I beat her, I don’t want excuses like, ‘She’s not the same Stamp.’ So I’m just hoping that she’s the best version of herself possible, because it’s going to be so much better for me.”
Flores Sees A Finish Against Stamp
Flores pointed to Stamp’s recent bouts with Kana Morimoto and Cynthia Flores while explaining why she believes the main event can end inside the distance.
“I can finish Stamp. I think Stamp’s human. Although she’s such a big star, she’s still human. There are still instances where she’s breaking. I saw it when she fought Kana. I saw it when she fought Cynthia. I’ve studied those fights endlessly. I’ve never been finished either, but I think that everyone’s breakable. It just takes the right set of skills, and I think I’m capable of doing that.”
The confidence adds a sharper edge to a card built around elite striking. ONE also recently booked Regian Eersel’s title rematch with George Jarvis, while Yuki Yoza and Nabil Anane received their own major assignment.
A Win Could Open The Title Door
Flores’ larger target is ONE women’s atomweight Muay Thai champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues. Beating a former champion with Stamp’s profile would give her the strongest case of her ONE tenure.
“I did read in an article that said a win over Stamp could get me to the title right away, which I was happy to hear. So, every fight feels the same way. It feels like the most important fight, because I have to get past each person. Stamp is an amazing opportunity for me to build that case, simply for how big her name is. The ultimate goal is to get to the belt, and I’m trying to get to Allycia. So a win over Stamp is fantastic for getting my name out there.”
Flores said she will remain available whether the title opportunity arrives immediately or takes longer to assemble.
“I know Allycia just signed a contract. I don’t know who she’s fighting. I don’t think they announced it yet, but yeah, that’s the goal, right? If I can step in, I’ll be ready to step in. But if it doesn’t happen until next year, then I’ll be ready the following year. It’ll give me more time to get even better for the title shot.”
