Report: New Brock Lesnar deal with WWE will delay DC or Bones fight

So who’s ready for Jon Jones versus Daniel Cormier again, but this time at heavyweight? According to a new report, Brock Lesnar may be looking to spend more time with the WWE.

A couple dominoes had to fall just right but UFC fans may be getting DC vs. Bones 3 instead of Brock Lesnar versus either man. First, unfortunately for the WWE their current top star, Roman Reigns, was diagnosed with leukemia. In need of someone to fill Reigns shoes late last month, Brock was offered a new big money deal from the WWE.

From Dave Meltzer over at MMA Fighting

“But with Reigns out, Lesnar got a new offer from McMahon to replace Reigns as his top singles champion. Lesnar agreed secretly to the new deal, and won the pro wrestling championship again. The new deal is for multiple shows, but its length of time has been kept secretive. But it is known that Lesnar is scheduled as late as April of next year for WrestleMania.

The deal does allow him to take a UFC fight, but whether Lesnar really will do that during this contractual term with WWE is a bigger question. And for Cormier, with the sands of the hourglass of his career rapidly running out, and him continuing to say he’s done in March after his 40th birthday, the Lesnar fight is far less of a sure thing than it seemed a month ago.”

So no Brock back in the UFC?

Here’s the thing, maybe its just us but the buzz for a third Cormier versus Jones isn’t really there. We’ve seen this story twice already and we’re not sure a different weight class will change the results. Watching DC or Bones rag doll or steamroll Brock Lesnar inside a cage? Lesnar shocking the world and stopping either guy? Now that’s something we’d watch.
