Rumor: Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson 2 in the works for UFC title fight

Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson 2

Sometimes you hear a rumor that sounds too good, too big to be true but we have a feeling about this one. Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson part two just kind of makes sense.

Also sometimes the Sunday Morning Rumor Mill stumbles in and blesses us with some mid-week goodness. We’ve heard for the past few months that Jon Jones may be back to the UFC sooner than we think and this rumor fits the bill. For Alexander Gustafsson, he has been on a never ending search for that next big money fight for over a year now.

This is all making sense. Even Eddie Bravo is silently nodding to himself at this very moment.

Rumors are that the UFC are in talks and may be moving forward on a Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson title fight for later in the year. Yes, you heard that correctly. Bones Jones may be back before the end of 2018. And yes, Daniel Cormier may be done with the UFC’s light heavyweight belt.

If or when Bones vs. Gus the sequel goes down it would for the vacant or interim light heavyweight title. As far as dates go, rumors are UFC 230 in New York City is a slim possibility. The UFC always stacks their November MSG cards but this turnaround time may be a little too quick.

The next possibility would be the UFC’s New Year’s Eve weekend joint on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas. The T-Mobile Arena and Nevada state athletic commission would be very pleased with this outcome.

Over five years since their classic five round war at UFC 165, the stars (and rumors) may have just aligned to Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson II happen before the calendar turns to 2019. MMA, thanks for staying wild.
