Rory’s retirement, Greg Hardy’s big push & more in the Sunday Morning Rumor Mill

Rory Retirement Rumor Mill

It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times, AKA another UFC vs. Bellator fight night. Great fight nights make for great MMA rumors.

With the UFC holding a card in Florida and Bellator holding a card in California, MMA fans were treated to a buffet. Was it was a five star buffet? Do those even exist? No and maybe, but the Fights Gods are just when it comes to over consumption.

As always these are rumors that have been talked about behind closed doors between MMA higher ups, so take them as MMA rumors.

It’s Sunday, Avengers weekend, and Game of Thrones night. Enjoy the Sunday Morning Rumor Mill on this blessed day of the year.

  • Don’t be surprised if Rory MacDonald announces his retirement in the coming weeks. A pro since age 16, rumor is this news did not come as a shock to Bellator.
  • In part due to their move to ESPN, expect Greg Hardy to continue to get a big push from the UFC. So much so, Hardy’s next fight may be in the main event spot.
  • Somehow Tito Ortiz came out of retirement again. Rumor is he may fight for at least two more years for Combate Americas.
  • Word is an UFC heavyweight title fight is on the table if Brock Lesnar wants it. Motivation vs. the amount of money UFC is willing to pay are the only things in the way of a Lesnar vs. DC fight.
  • Continuing his retirement tour, Demian Maia’s next fight will come against Anthony Rocco Martin. The Maia vs. Martin bout is set for a card in the summer.
