Featherweight Prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov Set To Make UFC Return

Zabit Magomedsharipov is one of the most highly regarded prospects in the UFC’s 145lb division. Finally, he is set to make his return to the cage, against Calvin Kattar.

Zabit is coming off a decision victory over Jeremy Stephens. On top of that, he is often referred to as a future champion, after an amazing first five UFC fights. One of the many exciting fighters coming out of Dagestan, Zabit had his biggest test against Stephens. Despite that, he won a clear unanimous decision in an exciting fight.

Now, five months later, Zabit is set to make his return to action. Per a tweet from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, he will be taking on Calvin Kattar. Subsequently, this bout will take place on October 18th, in Boston.

“Breaking: Per Dana White, Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Calvin Kattar will co-headline UFC Fight Night on Oct. 18 in Boston. LOVE this fight. Magomedsharipov already being crowned as a future champ by some, but Kattar wanted this one, I’m told. Home game for the MA native.”

As Okamoto mentions, this is a fight in Kattar’s backyard. He is on a 2 fight win streak, with 10 straight wins before that. Most recently, he knocked out Ricardo Lamas in June. This was the highest profile win of his career.

Although it seems Alexander Volkanovski will be next for Max Holloway, the winner of this bout could be after that. Nevertheless, these two are knocking on the door of that title shot, and an impressive performance here could push them over the edge. Additionally, this bout will be the co-main event of this card, under Chris Weidman and Dominic Reyes.

Does Zabit Magomedsharipov continue his unbeaten run in the UFC? Or will Calvin Kattar be too much?
