The easy assumption you probably made after reading the title of this article is that Chael Sonnen’s mother’s favorite fighter is Chael Sonnen; but you’d be wrong. You see, nothing about Chael Sonnen follows a logical storyline. Instead, he paves his own path filled with the troubles that gangsters encounter en route to becoming the kingpin. While that entire previous sentence is metaphorical, the struggles are very real. Turns out, they all stem from his mother selecting another UFC fighter (besides her son) as her favorite from a young age, and perhaps that’s what fueled his hatred for Brazil. It might also have been a bad bowl of feijoada or that whole Paulo Filho controversy in the WEC. All we know is that it’s Brazil Week on FuelTV and much like the rest of the world, Chael Sonnen’s mom is a huge fan of Vitor Belfort.
