Report: Yoel Romero vs. Paulo Costa In Works For UFC on ESPN 3 Main Headliner

A Pivotal Middleweight Clash Between Romero And Costa Is Expected To Headline UFC on ESPN 3 On April 27 In Miami

On Tuesday Combate.com reported that UFC is working on to book a former two-time title contender Yoel Romero and undefeated Paulo Costa for UFC on ESPN 3 main headliner bout which is set to take place at AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida on April 27.

Heavy hitters Romero and Costa were expected to throw down this past November at UFC 230, but bout failed to happen after “Soldier of God,” unable to make it due to orbital bone injury. Then their fight was targeted for this past weekend’s UFC on ESPN+ 1 in Brooklyn, but this time “The Eraser” pulled out due to an injury.

Costa, 12-0 last fought at UFC 226 where he scored a second-round knockout win over Uriah Hall in July. Prior to that, he defeated a former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks with strikes.

Romero, meanwhile, is coming off a decision loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC 225 back in June. That was the title fight, however, “Soldier of God,” failed to make weight, so Robert Whittaker’s title was not up for grab. Before that, Romero fought Luke Rockhold for an interim title and came out victorious however former two-time title contender unable to take the title home after missing weight.
