Romero was set to meet Paulo Costa at UFC 230. The Cuban was claimed medically unfit because he could not recover from broken orbital bone he sustained in the clash against Whittaker. The new meeting was in works for January, but then the Brazilian suffered a minor injury.

Finally, the match between Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa is rescheduled for the main event of UFC Miami, which takes place in April 2019.
