Yes it’s true, Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy has been canceled

You should disassemble your Anti-Jon Jones mob this morning, the UFC champion had nothing to do with this cancellation. Neither did any elusive ‘sport killer’ that haunts little toddler MMA fans before they go to bed. According to MMA Junkie, It was a simple injury from Gilbert Melendez that forced an entire ten-fight card to be canceled on Saturday night.

It even appears that Josh Thomson offered to save the card and fight Pat Healy on short notice in either a three or five-round fight but the promotion turned it down. We’re not sure if UFC attempted to dip into their lightweight roster or if that’s even allowed in Showtime’s mysteriously intelligible relationship with ZUFFA, but it’s rather evident that this upcoming Saturday we won’t have a reason to tune into Showtime unless the company airs the next eight episodes of Dexter in some maniacal marathon.

Aside from Gilbert Melendez vs. Pat Healy, a strong portion of you wanted to see undefeated Cat Zingano take on Amanda Nunes in a fight that could have easily headlined an Invicta FC card. Don’t get that down, MMA sycophant. We’ll brainstorm this week and have something equally as awesome to entertain your senses this weekend.
