It turns out Tyron Woodley’s rib popped out which eventually led to his defeat to Colby Covington.
Woodley suffered his third loss in a row after a dominant performance by Covington in their welterweight matchup in the UFC Vegas 11 headliner on Saturday night.
Covington would even earn a TKO victory after Woodley suffered a rib injury in the fifth round and was writhing in pain with “Chaos” on top of him on the ground.
Woodley Rib Popped Against Covington
Shortly after the fight, the former welterweight champion took to Instagram Live as he was being transported to the hospital to give an update to his fans.
He notably revealed his rib had popped out and that he had a hard time breathing.
“Woodley just went on Instagram while being wheeled on a stretcher into the hospital and said that his rib popped out during the fight. He said it was difficult to breathe, but he wanted to thank his supporters.”

“Hey I appreciate you guys – love you guys,” Woodley said. “It didn’t go the way I wanted guys. Last person I wanted to lose to.
“I don’t know what the f*ck happened. It happened. Gotta dust it off, shake the sh*t off and find a way.
Appreciate the love and support. … I can’t talk very long. It’s hard to breathe.”
Woodley shouldn’t be on the sidelines for too long and despite calls from many for him to retire, it would certainly be a surprise if he did just that.

He said it popped earlier in the fight and then tried to use the gulliotine to stand up and it popped. “It was the most pain ever,” he said.
