Cobra Kai‘ has added some mixed martial artists to their cast list.

Wonderboy & Woodley Join The Show

The hit TV show will feature the likes of former UFC Champion Tyron Woodley and the UFC’s own ‘karate kid’, Stephen Thompson in their fifth season. UFC Middleweight Eryk Anders is also set to make his acting debut on the show.

It’s been a while since it was reported that ‘Wonderboy’ and Woodley would be joining the cast. Fast forward to now and we finally got a first look at the two MMA stars on the big screen. They’d make a small appearance in the newest trailer for Cobra Kai season 5.

The Trailer

Thompson and Woodley appear in the trailer below.

What Roles Will They Be Playing?

From the looks of it, Woodley and Thompson will be team Cobra Kai for the season. Terry Silver, the main antagonist, recruited multiple karate sensei’s to help out in his conquest to expand the Cobra Kai dojo across the valley. That’s where Woodley’s and Thompson’s characters come in, likely as sensei’s.

‘Wonderboy’ and Woodley were in the series promo for a few seconds, but they were joined by five other Cobra Kai’s in the dojo, who were getting ready for a fight.

Former Foes Turned Friends

Cobra Kai is a show all about former foes… whether they keep fighting or ultimately join forces. We’ve seen a lot of that from the original ‘karate kid’ Danny LaRusso and his rival Johnny Lawrence, and they would work together eventually to help run a dojo together.

The same can be said for former UFC rivals Stephen Thompson and Tyron Woodley. After two fights inside the Octagon, the two would ‘bury the hatchet’ while on set for Cobra Kai season 5

Season 5 of Cobra Kai premieres on Netflix on Sep. 9, 2022.
