  • The California Legislative Women’s Caucus yearns for Dana White’s removal from the UFC in a public letter addressed to Endeavor
  • The group demands Endeavor to take the matter seriously and act on it ASAP

Despite apologizing, UFC president Dana White is still on the post following the infamous slapping scandal involving his wife, Anna on New Year’s Eve. Now, a women’s caucus wants him dismissed from his position as the promotion president.

A letter to the higher-up

The California Legislative Women’s Caucus, a political women’s advocacy group consisting of 18 state senators and 33 assemblywomen, publicized a letter addressed to Endeavor, UFC’s parent company, CEO Ari Emanuel, voicing their concern over White’s actions.

In the letter, the caucus pointed out that Endeavor should be committed to condemning domestic partner violence as White stated in the past.

The letter read:

“We write with deep concern about the recent violent video we have seen online from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (U.F.C.) President Dana White. Our caucus, which is both bicameral and bipartisan, is composed of women across the State of California who are committed to creating better lives for women and girls.”

“Given Mr. White’s previous remarks against domestic partner violence, we believed that
Endeavor and the U.FC. shared this commitment to safety, respect, and accountability.
You yourself have written extensively about the need to speak out and act when we see
things that are not in line with our values. And yet, we have seen the video of U.F.C. President Dana White, where he strikes his wife at a New Year’s Eve celebration with a closed fist. We were appalled. It was alarming to say the least.”

Don’t be silent about it

In line with that, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus calls for White to be reprimanded accordingly and it is through his dismissal. Endeavor has declined to comment on the incident but the caucus demands they take the matter seriously and not be “silent” about it.

“In the days since the video was released, you have remained silent. Your continued
silence speaks volumes. As you once wrote: ‘Silence and inaction are not an option.’
We agree – and we are urging you to take immediate action. Like you, we are people
who live by our values. We, too, are people of action. We are allies against violence, advocates for women, and we are parents like yourself. This is why it is clear to us: we are calling for the immediate removal of Mr. White as President of the U.F.C.”

The statement concluded, “The eyes of the world are on him (White) and on Endeavor.”

Several other celebrities from the entertainment and sports industries have also publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the disproportionate amount of attention given to the issue by the media.

Prior to the incident, White ironically launched his Power Slap League, which is set to premiere on TBS this month. Also before the incident, White has never been involved in such domestic violence and in fact, has a solid stance on condemning it.
