Witness the benevolence of Tom Lawlor, Nate Quarry, Joao Assis, and Dustin Poirier

Sometimes good deeds fly under the media radar because everyone is too busy looking for a dramatic or scandalous story. It’s sad when that happens because stories like these are what should make most of us even bigger fans of the fighters that pummell each other for our viewing pleasure all of the time. Back in January of this year the Kapi’olani medical center in Hawaii got a visit from four fighters bearing gifts for their completely not for profit medical facility and most us probably never even knew about it. Kids come to Kapi’olani that might not be able to afford excellent or long term care somewhere else.

Tom Lawlor, Nate Quarry, Joao Assis and Dustin Poirier all visited Kapi’olani to sepnd some time with the kids and donate some TVs and Ninetendo game systems to the kids who spend days, weeks and even months living in the hospital. These kids are the baddest fighters on earth. The cancer that many of these children fight against everydday is a tougher opponent than anything many of us will ever deal with in our lives. The UFC also kicked in some “true fighter” certificates and Octagon necklaces for the kids. Check out the pictures from the fighters’ visit to the facility that were originally posted on the UG back in January. Although your first thought might be to say “wow, what a great thing to do for these kids,” just take a look at the genuine happy faces on the big bad fighters. Looks like they might have gotten just as much joy out of the visit as the kids themsleves did.
