As much as I hope that everyone has an exciting Saturday night planned, I have bad news. There’s a good chance you’ll want to rethink your schedule. I was planning on sitting at home reading about Kierkegaard’s ideas on abstraction. This is the idea that some things only have meaning in specific contexts. For example, a black belt awarded by a Fred Simmons type character only holds worth in the artificial context of his dojo. Outside of this context, it is worth about as much as my toejam. While I’m sure this is a worthwhile way to spend my Saturday night, I’ve cancelled my scheduled reading time in order to watch Bellator 47.
Despite the absence of Patricio Freire and Joe Warren, this card still has the featherweight tournament semi-finals featuring Pat Curran vs Ronnie Mann and Marlon Sandro vs Nazareno Malegarie. If that isn’t enough reason to cancel whatever you planned for Saturday night, how about the addition of a heavyweight bout between Bellator Heavyweight Tournament finalist Neil Grove and TUF 10 contestant Zak Jensen? If this still isn’t enough, you could always create a list of reasons for why Chris Horodecki never ages while watching him take on Chris Saunders. I’m almost certain this is the recipe for an exciting night of fights, and isn’t a Kierkegaard-esque abstraction caused by the strange MMA-centric bubble that everyone here at MiddleEasy lives in.
