When you start a fight with a flying drop kick and miss, it's just not going to be a good day

Before we go on, we at MiddleEasy have to give props to Declan Pell for his impromptu tribute to the Street Fighter character Zangief in his bout against Kiru Singh Sahota at Combat Challenge. To pull off a flying double-drop kick at the beginning of your fight takes balls of adamantium. Besides, Zangief never really had any special moves in Street Fighter. He was a dude that button-mashers flocked to at the arcades — there were no mystical powers attributed to Zangief. Don’t expect a guy from Russia to throw hadokens from his hands or crouch down and shoot electricity from his back. Zangief was a drunk guy at the bar that stumbled upon an invite to the tournament of champions as he rolled out of bed in his underwear. Let’s get real, Zangief would have a broken arm and be locked up in prison if he wasn’t included in the Street Fighter cast.

For that, we must give praise to Declan Pell. However, the next time you’re faced with an opponent — maybe it’s better to stay away from the flying double-drop kick right at the start. Props to Ben Cartlidge for the find.
