We’re just hours away from Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II

We’re just hours away from an event that was awesome, took a few unexpected hits, and then retained its awesome status with some superior late-minute replacements. This event initially marked Herschel Walker’s return to the cage with a bout against the relatively unknown Scott Carson (a definite step up from the ‘TBD’ guy that we saw on websites across the world). Everything was copacetic until we received the news that Walker endured a cut around his eye and that he would be out of his upcoming Strikeforce bout. Damn. Walker’s participation in the event could have guaranteed a slot on ESPN shortly after the bout, but at least we all had Bigfoot Silva vs. Valentijn Overeem — at least for a few days. Around this time last weekend, the news broke that Overeem had to drop out of his bout against Bigfoot Silva due to an injury. The card seemed doomed, buzzards flew around St. Louis like some campy Wil E. Coyote cartoon and within a day, Mike Kyle stepped in for Valentijn to face Bigfoot Silva in a fight that some even claim is better than its previous incarnation. Earlier this week, it was also confirmed that Benji Radach vs. Ovince St. Preux will replace the scrapped Herschel Walker card, a fight that will actually have implications as to who may be next in line for a title shot.

Of course, most of you will be tuning in for Dan Henderson vs. Babalu Sobral, so check out this video that has been sitting on the MiddleEasy cutting-room floor of Babalu welcoming MiddleEasy into his life. It all goes down 9pm EST/PST on Showtime, so now you have something to look forward to for the remainder of the evening.
