In competitive eating, a person’s size often does nothing to indicate who will down the most hot dogs in a twelve-minute span, but in MMA there’s often an indirect relationship between muscle-mass and the size of a fighter’s gas tank. The more muscle you put on, the more oxygen your body requires to keep you moving. Unless you’re fighting in Texas where you can use canned oxygen because the athletic commission has no idea what their own rules are, you’re probably going to spend a lot of time in the gym working on your cardio.
