The UFC 164 prelims will be shown live at 3:30pm PST / 6:30pm EST on MiddleEasy.

That’s it, the article can end but on fight day I like to expand a little, so here are my picks starting with the prelims.

Jared Hamman vs. Magnus Cedenblad – Jared Hamman will win via absolutely need to break a 0-2 streak and stay in the UFC.

Ryan Couture vs. Al Iaquinta – According to an article by Ben Fowlkes, Ryan has something up his sleeve since the UFC wouldn’t allow him to wear his Xtreme Couture bade on his shorts. I’m picking him by submission.

Soa Palelei vs. Nikita Krylov – Soa wins because he has a friggin’ signature steel-toe work boot.

Chico Camus vs. Kyung Ho Kang – If this fight took place in Korea, Kyung Ho Kang would win. However there’s something about Asian fighters traveling to the US that really misses up their MMA game. Chico wins via controversial ref stoppage.

Pascal Krauss vs. Hyun Gyu Lim – Same thing here. Lim fought in Japan and won via amazing flying knee at UFC Stann vs. Wand. However he’s fighting in the US, so Pascal Krauss will win a UD.

Louis Gaudinot vs. Tim Elliott – Gaudinot has the better hair, but Tim Elliott will grab the UD.

Jamie Varner vs. Gleison Tibau – I’m picking Tibau since at the time of the fight he’ll weigh like 230lbs — and that’s just his trapezoids. Also, I want to see another Varner .gif (someone please, cue the Varner .gif)

Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirier – This will 100% be fight of the night. Erik Koch has slighter better stand-up, Poirier has slightly sneakier subs — but both guys are just nasty in every element of MMA. Egh, Koch wins via split-decision.

Ben Rothwell vs. Brandon Vera – It really depends on if we see the Vera that showed up when he fought Shogun, or the Vera that appeared when his head got drummed by Thiago Silva. I would like to think this is Vera 2.0, so I’m going with him in a UD. You just can’t knock out Ben, and I don’t count what Cain did as an actual TKO. Horrible stoppage.

Chad Mendes vs Clay Guida – Damn, Guida must have done something horrible in a past life to get this match-up. Guida may be at home and have the energy of 30,000 megaton hydrogen bombs, but Chad Mendes finishes him in the first round via guillotine.

Frank Mir vs. Josh Barnett – Wow, what a fight. I actually ran into Eddie Bravo on streets of Downtown LA last night and asked him about this. He has Barnett winning by hulk-smash ground and pound TKO, so I’m going with that.

Benson Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis – Everyone wants to see a shake up in the lightweight division and if this was WEC, Pettis would be the guy to do it. However Bendo is just on another plane of fighting now. The guy isn’t losing his belt anytime soon, even if Pettis is fighting in his home town. Bendo via UD, and the crowd will boo how he wins.

Well, that’s it. Don’t forget to come back at 3:30pm for the UFC 164 prelims!
