Alistair Overeem is prepared to carry the country of Jamaica to a MMA victory. Over the summer and prior to his fight with Ben Rothwell, Overeem made a trip to Jamaica and he almost instantly becomes one of the country’s most prized exports. On the Caribbean island MMA is still in its infant stages but the government wants to invest in Overeem stock to help the sport grow.
Overeem’s Jamaican connection comes through his father who also makes a guest appearance in season three episode seven of “The Reem”. Listen to a cover of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” played on some street-made instruments as Overeem talks to the Jamaican government about getting their wrestling team to the Olympics and the 6’5 Demolition Man trains the country’s army in MMA.
The back half of the episode takes a deeper look into every angle of Overeem’s fight week preparations for Rothwell.
If John Candy was still alive (RIP) he would star in a Disney version of The Reem and the Rothwell fight would serve as the film’s low point for our hero. Redemption will come in the form of Overeem punching out a fallen Stefan Struve. The Reem TKO-ing his opponent in the first round is how all Alistair Overeem-produced Disney movies should end.
