We don’t really need to hype WEC 51 more than the rest of the world already has. If you’re not excited for tonight’s fight card, you don’t have a heartbeat and you should probably get that checked out. The only person who doesn’t need a heartbeat is the Korean Zombie, and even he’s excited about his fight tonight. Rematches are always entertaining, but the rematch between Donald Cerrone and Jamie Varner is easily the most important in the history of the organization. Their first fight came down to a controversial illegal strike (that may or may not have actually landed) in the final round. It put an end to the fight and earned Varner a technical decision victory. While Varner was leading on the scorecards, Cerrone was well on his way to a potential 5th round TKO stoppage until the fight’s questionable ending. Both guys want another shot at Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson, and winning tonight will be the first step in that direction.
