Former UFC flyweight standout Muhammad Mokaev wasted no time reminding the MMA world why he’s one of the most talked-about fighters. At BRAVE CF 91, the 24-year-old delivered a masterclass, securing a first-round submission victory and reigniting his claim as the best flyweight on the planet.

Mokaev, nicknamed “The Punisher,” returned to BRAVE Combat Federation after parting ways with the UFC earlier this year. Despite his undefeated record and a decision win over top contender Manel Kape, the UFC opted not to re-sign him, citing behind-the-scenes difficulties. While the circumstances of his departure remain unclear, Mokaev’s performance proved he’s far from done.

Initially slated to fight Luthando Biko, a last-minute opponent change brought Joevincent So into the cage. Stepping up with just two days’ notice, So faced the daunting task of battling a fighter whose record now stands at a flawless 13-0.

Watch the highlights below:

The fight didn’t last long. Mokaev opened with precise strikes before taking the action to the ground, where his grappling shined. After a quick scramble, Mokaev locked in a D’arce choke, forcing the tap in under two minutes. The swift finish was a statement, with Mokaev confidently declaring post-fight:

“I’m ready for everyone in this division,” Mokaev declared after the win. “I will be a pound-for-pound fighter and [the] best flyweight in the world. They can deny [me], but they can’t hide. And I’m coming for everyone in the 125 division. I’m the best flyweight in the world.”

Mokaev’s journey has been anything but typical. A former amateur star with an eye-popping 23-0 record, he transitioned seamlessly to professional MMA in 2020, quickly climbing the ranks. Despite his departure from the UFC, his talent remains undeniable, and many believe it’s only a matter of time before he returns to the sport’s biggest stage.

For now, Mokaev’s future is bright, with fans and analysts alike eagerly speculating what’s next. Could this young phenom find his way back to the UFC, or will he carve a legacy elsewhere? One thing’s certain, “The Punisher” is far from finished making his mark on the flyweight division
