Going out fist-pumping on Saturday night means you missed out big time by not ordering Shark Fights. Anyone tuned-in on Pay-Per-View was treated to a helping of Don Frye’s wisdom alongside Bas Rutten’s singing while Ron Kruck played the voice of reason. The commentating alone justified the price of the PPV, but if you had surround sound set up in your home, it felt a lot like Don and Bas were sitting on your couch next to you, eating Doritos and pounding beers. That’s an experience I always wanted, and thanks to Shark Fights, I now know what it feels like. As a bonus, the promotion gave fans six exciting fights, most notable of which as Houston Alexander vs. Sokoudjou. It went down exactly how you thought it would go when you have the Assassin step into the cage with the African Assassin. Houston recovered from a heavy damage early in the fight, then took advantage of Sokoudjou’s limited cardio to win by devastating ground & pound. It won him fight of the night honors and a gnarly row of stitches that fall just short of making our top ten cuts that look like a womb giving birth. It’s OK though, it still makes the front page of MiddleEasy is as rare as beating Betty White in beer pong game. [Source]
