A heavyweight scrap between Rashad Coulter and Tai Tuivasa took place at UFC Fight Night 121 prelims in Sydney.
Heavyweight Tai Tuivasa makes his UFC debut against Rashad Coulter, an American hitman.
With the added pressure of making his first walk to the Octagon in front of hometown Sydney crowd, Tuivasa said that being a training partner of heavyweight Mark Hunt and brother-in-law to light heavyweight Tyson Pedro had given him valuable insights.
“They have given me good advice. I also have first-hand experience from being in the corner and seeing the lights and that kind of stuff” he said beforehand.
In a division that is currently a little light with regards to world-class talent, Tuivasa said that learning from Hunt would help him to climb the ladder and stay there for years to come.
“I back my ability, I think I’m good enough to fight the best. I’ve been learning from one of my mentors [Mark Hunt] who is the best and someone I look up to a lot. Twenty-two years as one of the best fighters in the world, that’s a goal of mine and that’s the dream for sure”.
Australian heavyweight Tai Tuivasa wowed the audience in his hometown at UFC Sydney on Saturday, puts Rashad Coulter to sleep with a flying knee on the event’s preliminary card. Tuivasa’s finish came at the 4:45 mark of Round 1.
