Volkan Oezdemir Gets Back Into The Winner’s Column In A Big Way!
UFC Fight Night 156 is happening live now (Saturday, August 10, 2019) from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Welcome to the entertaining 205-pound contest between WKN Valhalla: Battle of the Vikings Tournament winner Volkan “No Time” Oezdemir and the former SC Light Heavyweight champ Ilir “The Sledgehammer” Latifi. Our ref is Keith Peterson. The bout begins!
A low kick from Oezdemir, and a short punch at the beginning of the match. Right-hand Oezdemir left punch followed up by a knee.
And what a nasty takedown by Ilir Latifi, that was awesome, he caught a leg kick and took his rival down to the mat!
Oezdemir uses the cage to get back on his feet, then lands a jab. Volkan goes for a flying knee but Ilir counters well and pushes him to the fence. Oezdemir tries with another knee, Ilir pushes him towards the fence again.
Shoulder strikes Oezdemir, fighters separate, leg kicks. Latifi lands two fists and eats a counter. Leg kick Volkan, another takedown but no success. Volkan delivers so many unorthodox strikes at the moment – foot stomps, knees, elbows… The end of the round, I think 10-9 Volkan.
Latifi is very aggressive at the beginning of the round, he lands a few punches. Jab to the body, another kick Volkan. Body kick Volkan, Latifi fires back with a nasty combo.
Oezdemir pushes Ilir against the fence with a barrage of strikes, knee drops Latifi!!!
But Ilir stood up, and fighters are now in a Muay Thai clinch. Knees and elbows damaging Ilir! Ilir tries to deliver big right hand, but Volkan fires at will and cracks him open. Low kick rocks Latifi!
Huge left hand, now few more shots, and Latifi falls face down, Keith Peterson stops the match. Big victory for Volkan Oezdemir, who finally snapped his three-fight losing streak!
Final Result: Volkan Oezdemir defeats Ilir Latifi (round 2, 4:31 via KO (Punches))
