Vinny Magalhaes says Chael can and will submit Jon Jones off his back

The silos have begun to officially open in the war for the light heavyweight title (everything else was cold war posturing), and it’s Vinny Magalhaes unleashing the first strike on the Bones camp. Chael’s BJJ coach and the dude who should’ve gotten Submission of the Night at UFC 152 sees some major holes in Bones’ ground game with all due respect to the champ. Deducing with his expert BJJ opinion, Vinny thinks that Chael can definitely submit Jon Jones, and do it off his back. In fact, he thinks Chael should pull guard. Yep, we’ve officially entered the bizarro world. If you would of told any of us a year or two ago that Chael would be fighting Bones for the light heavyweight title and pulling guard was his number one strategy, I think we all would’ve agreed that you were on acid, because we didn’t know about bath salts yet. Check out what Vinny told Aaron Tru (transcription by MMA Mania) regarding Chael Sonnen’s upcoming match against Jon Jones.

“After watching Jon’s last fight, I could just tell Chael to pull guard and he’s likely to submit Jones. I don’t know, I’m not going to disrespect the guy. He has an excellent overall game, incredible athlete. He’s super young so he can get better in everything else. But his ground in his last fight was a little suspect. He got caught in an armbar by a guy who is not known for having great jiu-jitsu for MMA, even though Vitor’s a black belt, he’s not known for having great jiu-jitsu for MMA. And especially getting somebody in the submission off his back, it made things even more unbelievable. Me judging as a technician, as an expert in jiu-jitsu, I don’t think Jones has the kind of ground to handle a guy with incredible guard. I think I’m going to work on that with Chael, just work on his guard, pull guard and Chael will submit him off his back.”

If Chael submits Jon Jones off of his back it’s time to play the opposite lotto numbers, order chicken salad on rye, and start preparing for Chael’s next book on the wonders and beauties of Brazil. Weird.
