Video emerges of Paulo Costa getting an IV before fight with Johny Hendricks

Paulo Costa IV ban

*Extremely Johny Hendricks voice* Awwwww man. There are couple of things to consider in this new Paulo Costa video. The number one thing to keep in mind, is why did this video leak now and who leaked it?

In the video below it looks like unbeaten UFC middleweight Paulo Costa is hooked up to an IV before his fight with Johny Hendricks at UFC 217. UFC 217 took place in November 2017, IV use for re-hydration was banned by the UFC, thanks to USADA, back in October of 2015.

Has it really been that long? Yes, yes it has.

In attempt to curb fighters not making dangerous weight cuts, the UFC and the overlords at USADA decided fighters should be able to use IV’s before or after their weight cut.

It sounded dumb back in 2015 and three years later, fighters are still making dangerous cuts but now they can’t hydrate using an IV afterwards.

Taking all that in, watching the video below, everyone still believes Costa would have smashed Hendricks at UFC 217 regardless, right? Costa was and still is on a roll while Hendricks was on the downside of his career and moving up to a heavier weight class.

It was recipe for disaster for Hendricks and then Costa went out and TKO’d with ease at UFC 217.

With all that being said, if this video is true, it’s still kind of shady for Costa to receive an IV. As dumb as most of USAD’s rules are they are still rules the UFC wants everyone to play by.

Check out the new video from November 2017 below and judge for yourself.
