Jake Paul tried to fake box Nate Diaz using his hands in the first face-off for their upcoming boxing match.

Social media sensation turned boxer Jake Paul is coming off a loss to Tommy Fury, brother of boxing legend Tyson Fury, in his last outing. Fury managed to get the nod on the judges’ scorecards and handed Paul the first defeat of his professional career. Following the result, Paul set his sights back on mixed martial arts veteran Nate Diaz.

Diaz parted ways with the UFC after defeating fellow fan favorite Tony Ferguson in his latest showing at UFC 279 last September. He completed the final bout on his contract with the promotion and refused to re-sign to explore opportunities in free agency.

On April 12, a boxing match between Paul and Diaz got announced by renowned journalist Ariel Helwani.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Jake Paul squared off against Nate Diaz in their first-ever face-off. Paul pretended to box Diaz a bit as he threw fake strikes at the latter with his hands.

Diaz is facing charges after getting in a street fight

Nate Diaz was in attendance for the MF & DAZN X Series 6 event to support his teammate Chris Avila in New Orleans, Louisiana last month. He fired a water bottle at reality star Chase DeMoor while seated ringside. Then, he got involved in an altercation outside the arena with a Logan Paul lookalike.

Diaz ended up choking out the man on the street. He got charged with second-degree battery and had a warrant out for his arrest. He posted a $10,000 bond and received a preliminary court hearing date of June 27.

Many combat sports athletes have weighed in with their prediction of the upcoming crossover boxing fight between Paul and Diaz. Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor, an old foe of Diaz, is convinced Paul would suffer a brutal defeat at the hands of Diaz. Meanwhile, UFC superstar Sean O’Malley sees it as a ‘win-win’ situation for both parties.

Jake Paul will take on Nate Diaz on August 5 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
