The live Kick stream showed Raja, an MMA fighter, slamming Smith unconscious and delivering over 20 real punches to his head, far beyond the scripted plan. The assault, sparked by a backstage misunderstanding, sent Smith to the hospital. Quinton, caught off guard, grappled with the reality of his son’s actions and potential legal consequences.
Before Smith’s match, he struck Raja on the head with a prop beer can during a promotional segment, unaware that Raja, not a wrestler, wasn’t informed of the stunt. Organizers told Raja he could “pay back” Smith in the ring with a staged double-leg takedown and a few light punches. Instead, Raja escalated, knocking Smith out with a slam and continuing to strike him despite calls to stop. Wrestlers rushed to intervene as Smith lay unresponsive, and he was quickly hospitalized, later confirmed to be awake and stable.

As the clip played during his stream with Sneako, Quinton expressed disbelief, saying:
“I hope it was staged. I hoped it was staged. Some people do hardcore wrestling.” He explained, “He went to a pro wrestling event with his coach. Those pro wrestlers be just as crazy as MMA guys. The pro wrestling guy don’t know my son and he hit him over the head with a beer can or a bottle or something. My son didn’t know it was coming. They didn’t tell my son. I guess he thought my son was a pro wrestler or something.”
He added, “Raja didn’t react. Raja didn’t fight, though. He didn’t do anything because I told Raja not to get punched. He still hit my son over the head and then he asked my son, ‘You ain’t gonna sell it?’ So this motherf—ker that hit my son is stupid. In order for me not to go to f—king jail I gotta talk to his coach.”

Smith, a U.S. Army veteran who wrestles to manage PTSD, suffered serious injuries but is stable, per Quinton’s update. Knokx Pro Wrestling labeled Raja’s actions “irresponsible” on August 24, 2025, issuing a public apology. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer called it “the worst thing I’ve ever seen in a ring.” Raja’s post-attack rant, saying, “I’m tired of everybody playing with me,” with blood on his clothes, added fuel to the controversy. Kick banned Raja’s account for “violent behavior.” Police are investigating possible assault charges, and Smith may pursue a civil lawsuit for medical costs.
