UFC 221 weigh-ins held on Friday night (Sun., February 11, 2018) in Australia. Luke Rockhold weighed in at exactly 185 pounds for his interim middleweight title fight vs. Yoel Romero, but the Yoel came in well over at 188.8 pounds in the first attempt, jeopardizing Saturday’s main event.
The Cuban fighter has given two hours to drop the weight and reach the middleweight limit.
Unfortunately, Yoel Romero missed weight on his second attempt coming in at 187.7 pounds. He needed to make 185.
Romero will be unable to fight for the interim title, while Luke Rockhold remains eligible to win the belt in Perth tomorrow night.
Rockhold was angry afterward and he and Yoel Romero had an intense staredown at weigh-ins that almost got physical. Romero promised to go to the sauna and fight on the card Saturday (Sunday in Australia).
Should have be doing the salsa in the sauna. Some bullshit as usual
