UFC Star Alexey Oleynik Daughter Is Safe Following Deadly Florida School Shooting

UFC heavyweight Alexey Oleynik’s daughter is safe following a tragic shooting that has claimed at least 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on Wednesday.

Alexey Oleynik’s daughter Polina Oleynik is a student at the high school. She was in attendance at the time of the shooting.

This news first reported by MMAFighting that Polina was safe with Oleynik’s manager, Abraham Kawa, following tweets from the UFC heavyweight about the situation.

“No comment, terrible moments of parents. My daughter today. Shooting at her school.” Oleynik said on Twitter.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel told reporters on Wednesday that 19-year-old Nicolas de Jesus Cruz has been arrested as a suspect in the shooting at the Ft. Lauderdale-area school that is home to around 3,200 students. An AR-15 style assault rifle was recovered at the scene, Israel said.

Oleynik is native of Ukraine is scheduled to fight Junior Albini at UFC 224 on May 12th, at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is 4-2 in six UFC bouts thus far.
