Belal Muhammad‘s running a victory lap on the UFC Welterweight division and that includes Kamaru Usman.
The former UFC Welterweight Champion picked against Muhammad in his last fight at UFC 304, doubting that he’d be able to outlast Leon Edwards across five rounds, but that’s exactly what Muhammad did, earning a unanimous decision victory to win the title in Manchester, England.
Riding a 11-fight unbeaten streak, the newly-crowned champ Muhammad’s no longer the hunter but the hunted with welterweight contenders coming for his spot at the very top of the division. Usman and the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov are in Muhammad’s sights for a potential title fight, even though ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is on a three-fight skid himself.
No More Mr. Nice Guy
While Usman is open to taking another fight to make his case for a title shot, he wouldn’t mind jumping at the opportunity next, should it come against Muhammad.
“Alright enough of the nice guy… you were never chasing me Bum,” Usman wrote of Muhammad on ‘X’. “You were barely in rankings when i dominated the division. FYI I have a win over Leon [Edwards] son.”
Usman hasn’t won a fight in nearly three years but the UFC veteran held down the division for quite a while, notching five title defenses to cement himself as one of the greatest welterweights of all time and a potential title challenger yet again, if that’s what the UFC decides.

Though, Muhammad isn’t all that impressed with Usman’s resume at 170lbs, criticizing the former champion for fighting contenders like Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal both twice in a single title reign and also Usman’s small role as a Wakandan warrior in Black Panther Wakanda Forever (2022).

Usman went 1-2 in his trilogy with Leon Edwards, defeating “Rocky” in their first encounter close to a decade ago. Recovering from injuries, Usman looks to get back in the title scene and remind everyone he’s still one of the best, if not the best welterweights in the world when it’s time to return, all at the age of 37.
“lol glad you watched me in BP,” Usman said of Muhammad mentioning his acting debut. “Unfortunately no one wants to watch you fight much less put you in a movie.”

Muhammad clapped back at Usman, bringing him back to reality about his movie role.
“You were a background character in a movie about fighting.. they must’ve seen your striking and decided no fight scenes,” Muhammad responded.
