UFC Is Interested In $500 Million Mega-Deal With Boxing Superstar Anthony Joshua

A Heavyweight boxing sensation and a current champion, Anthony Joshua, who has 20-0 score, with 20 KO victories, is set to fight Joseph Parker (24-0), 18 KO victories, on March 31, 2018, in Cardiff, Wales. This is Joshua’s third match in the stadium, who has become a superstar for only five years of a boxing career.

UFC president Dana White has shown interest in promoting Anthony Joshua. However, White is not the only man who will attend Joshua vs Parker event. He and his team are trying to make Anthony Joshua stay away from his current promoter Eddie Hearn. They have a multi-fight offer, and a lot of money is in the game. (via bloodyelbow.com)

“The Ultimate Fighting Championship is making an audacious bid to sign a promotional multi-fight deal with Anthony Joshua which could earn the Londoner $500 million (£353 million) and make him the richest British boxer of all time.

Joshua has become boxing’s biggest star and The Daily Telegraph understands Dana White, the UFC president, will attend his title fight with Joseph Parker in Cardiff on Saturday week and plans to meet with the 28-year-old and his team.

[…]

The capture of Joshua would immediately make the UFC key players and it is thought the Briton could earn $50 million (£35 million) per fight if he switched to them, with the prospect of a multi-fight deal taking him to over $500 million in earnings.”

Anthony Joshua is expected to earn $20 million from the fight versus Parker. This is roughly the same amount of money he earned from the fight versus Wladimir Klitschko, and you can count his recent $15 million bonus in the fight against Carlos Takam.

Many expect Joshua to win Parker. In that case, he would probably face WBC Champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 knockout victories) in the fall. It would be his chance to unify all the belts and become the undisputed king of the Heavyweight division.

The report came extremely quickly after Joshua stated that he is 100% sure he will stay with Hearn and Matchroom Promotions. He has one more year of the deal signed left. His fight with Parker is the last on Joshua’s exclusive US TV deal with Showtime. Hearn has stated though that Showtime will probably remain Joshua’s home for broadcast distribution. It might be the only logical move since Joshua’s moving to HBO would mean complication with Wilder match to happen.

The move is unexpected but there might be a different background behind it. If it happens, who knows… maybe the Heavyweight UFC champion Stipe Miocic could get a chance to face Anthony Joshua in the boxing ring.
