It appears the UFC is back in the tournament business.
John Hyon Ko, Senior MMA Correspondent of The Allstar Sports, is reporting that the UFC is set to host eight-man tournaments in four weight classes.
Multiple sources have informed me that the #UFC will have 8-man tournaments across 4 divisions (125, 135, 145, 155) starting in Singapore during #UFC275 fight week. One source said that contracts have gone out to Asian fighters and matchmaking is underway.

Each tournament will be across three months. Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai fighters already targeted.

TSN’s Aaron Bronster also chimed in with an update on what the tournament could be called.

The UFC had its share of tournaments back in its early days but not so much in the modern era if you don’t include “The Ultimate Fighter.” There was a four-man flyweight tournament back in 2012. Ultimately, Demetrious Johnson won the inaugural UFC Flyweight Championship.
It’ll be interesting to see how things shake out with these tournaments in the coming months. Middle Easy will keep you posted once more details on the tournaments become available.
