Deiveson Figueiredo Decisions Chito Vera, Calls For Title Fight – UFC Abu Dhabi Results (Highlights)

A title challenger meets a former champion in Abu Dhabi.

It’s a bantamweight matchup between Marlon “Chito” Vera and Deiveson Figueiredo with the top contenders colliding on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi. Vera attempts to bounce back from a loss to Sean O’Malley in his last time out as Figueiredo tries to string together three wins in a row since moving up to the bantamweight division.

The action takes place from the Ethihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Round 1:

Figueiredo and Vera trade shots from a distance. Figueiredo snags top control on Vera in a scramble. Figueiredo lands a few ground and pound strikes from top control with Vera returning with a few elbows. Vera gets back up to his feet. Vera looks to land a knee with Figueiredo using the attempt to take him down to the canvas close to the cage.

Figueiredo shoots for a takedown right away but is denied. Vera stuffs another takedown attempt from Figueiredo. Figueiredo goes to the body and to the head of Vera. Figueiredo sits Vera down with a right hand. Figueiredo continues to land on Vera, connecting with a front kick to the face. Figueiredo lands a leg kick. Figueiredo fires an uppercut. Vera is able to defend a couple of takedown attempts from the former champ. 1-2 for Figueiredo. Vera and Figueiredo trade shots in the pocket. Figueiredo signals to Vera to bring it on. Vera loses his balance and drops to the floor before getting back up before the final bell rings.
