Lightweight contenders Jan Blachowicz and Jimi Manuwa square off in the co-main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 127 event at The O2 in London, broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
Jan Blachowicz earned a hard-fought decision win over Jimi Manuwa.
It was the biggest win of Blachowicz’s career and meant the Pole gained revenge over the man who defeated him in front of his own hometown fans three years ago.
Blachowicz took down his opponent in the opening round with a flurry of uppercuts, but Manuwa recovered to make it to the 2nd round. Manuwa opened quickly in the second, rifling out a high kick that missed. Manuwa’s aggression was turned against him though, as a backward moving Blachowicz dropped him with two quick-fire counters that sent the Brit crashing to the canvas. Blood poured from Manuwa’s nose.
Both men traded heavy shots in the final round. Blachowicz kept sticking out the jab. Blachowicz countered perfectly, again using the hook and uppercut to great success. With few second lefts, Blachowicz scored a beautiful takedown to close out the round and scores a victory.
