The UFC is preparing to hold a historic event on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14. To ensure proper oversight, the promotion is working with the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC), which will serve as an independent advisor on rules, judges, referees, and safety measures.
“As the event is being held on federal property, there is no requirement for the UFC to select a state athletic commission to oversee the event,” said ABC President Timothy Shipman.
Safety and Oversight Are Central
Shipman emphasized the UFC’s commitment to athlete safety and regulatory compliance.
“The UFC expresses its commitment to ensuring that this event is among the most thoroughly regulated in the history of the sport and has requested that the ABC serve as an independent third party to assist in assembling the most qualified group of judges, referees, and inspectors in the world,” he said.
The UFC confirmed that all fighters will complete required medical examinations, pre- and post-fight physicals, and adhere to safety protocols.
“The UFC has further confirmed that it will abide by all applicable regulatory requirements in support of this event, including all required medical examinations, pre-bout and postbout physicals, and athlete safety protocols.
“All bouts on this card are officially licensed and sanctioned contests,” the promotion added.

Event Logistics and Audience
The White House event will not be open to the general public. Security is a priority as President Donald Trump, White House staff, and high-ranking officials are expected in attendance. A free watch party is planned at the Ellipse, with a proposed capacity of over 80,000 fans, according to Trump and UFC CEO Dana White.
The card features two major title fights. The main event will see lightweight champion Ilia Topuria face interim champion Justin Gaethje in a unification bout. In the co-main, Alex Pereira will move up to heavyweight to fight Ciryl Gane for an interim title.
Hunter Campbell, UFC Chief Business Officer, and Marc Ratner, Senior Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs, will work closely with ABC to ensure proper regulatory oversight during the event.
Even though the UFC is not required to partner with a state commission for a federal property event, this collaboration with ABC ensures proper supervision and safety, maintaining the official status of all bouts on the White House card.
