We saw a snuff film in Adelaide, Australia tonight. It was brutal, it made almost everyone uncomfortable, and it displayed the pure brutality of our sport in a neat, 25-minute package. Tonight, Mark Hunt showed that he’s too tough for his own good. That’s another way of saying dumb as he should’ve tapped out after he realized the referee was going to let him die in the Octagon tonight. This tweet sums up what we witnessed on this violent evening:
The record in the modern era is Chael Sonnen with 320 strikes. Hunt, unlike Anderson Silva, couldn’t pull off any last-second heroics, and instead just continued to get beaten down over and over and over again. It was sad. It shouldn’t have gone on, and it was borderline if not officially disturbing.
🙁
Stipe Miocic was a heavy-breathing murderer in the Octagon tonight. Mark Hunt was basically a defenseless young girl who realizes fifteen minutes into showing up that there’s plastic lining the walls and thing aren’t as they seem. My stomach. Children shouldn’t watch this fight.
