Makhachev stepped on the scale first and hit the championship limit. Garry followed later in the two-hour official window and matched him at 170. The champion will make his first defense at 170 pounds after moving up from lightweight, while Garry enters his first UFC title fight.
The official result protects Makhachev’s chance to extend his 16-fight UFC winning streak. The 28-1 champion can move beyond Anderson Silva’s former company record with another victory. Garry is 17-1 after consecutive wins over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad.

UFC 330 takes place Saturday, Aug. 15, at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is the promotion’s first numbered event in the city since UFC 133 in 2011.
