Robert Whittaker vs. Israel Adesanya Face-Offs
UFC will stage the UFC 243 ‘Whittaker vs. Adesanya’ MMA event on Sun., Oct. 6, 2019 (airing in the USA on Sat., Oct. 5) due to time zone difference from inside the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The main card begins on pay-per-view (PPV) following preliminary bouts on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass digital network/ESPN+.
In the main headliner, the middleweight kingpin, Robert Whittaker, will meet 185-pound interim champion, Israel Adesanya, in a title unification bout. They will fight for five-round.
Whittaker won the vacated middleweight title at UFC 213 after a brutal five-round war against Yoel Romero. Both ran it back at UFC 225 however ‘Reaper’ once again pulled a close decision win over “Soldier of God” a Cuban slugger.
Adesanya (17-0) recently beat top contender Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 last April in an interim title bout.
Meanwhile, co-main features a lightweight bout between Dan “The Hangman” Hooker and “Ragin’” Al Iaquinta.
