UFC 243 Is Officially Taking Place In Australia Stadium

UFC 243 has an official destination. It is set to take place in the giant 55,000 seat Marvel Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

It was announced on Thursday, that the location for UFC 243 was set. The UFC is making its return to Australia, for the second time this year. This time though, they will be raising the stakes, and trying to fill 55,000 seats. The announcement was made via Combate’s Raphael Marinho, then translated by TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter.

“Combate’s @raphamarinho reports that the UFC will be holding UFC 243 at the 55,000+ capacity Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on October 5.

Dana White hinted yesterday that they would be bringing the fight between Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya to Australia.”

As mentioned in the tweet, it is expected that the Middleweight Championship bout between Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya will headline the event. Both of these UC stars are native to the region, and it is widely believed that the bout will be a big seller.

The UFC’s previous event in Melbourne took place earlier this year, and was headlined by Adesanya. This bout took place against Anderson Silva, and was moved to the headlining role. This was a result of Whittaker pulling out of a bout with Kelvin Gastelum. Subsequently, Adesanya would go on to beat Silva. He then faced Gastelum for the interim title.

In an all-time great fight, Adesanya would beat Gastelum. Now, it is time for the belts to be unified. Additionally, this will be Whittaker’s return, since his emergency hernia surgery that forced him out of his bout with Gastelum.

UFC 243 is expected to be headlined by these two. Subsequently, it is set to take place on October 5th, in Melbourne.
