Jon Jones Vs Alexander Gustafsson 2 Is Expected To Be A Reprise Of One Of The Best Title Matches In The History Of UFC!
We were waiting for over five years for the second clash between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. The atmosphere is additionally heated up since the two will fight for UFC Light Heavyweight title. The current two-division champ, Daniel Cormier, will be stripped as soon as “Mauler” and “Bones” touch gloves.
UFC has released one of the most exciting promos ever. It shows the highlights from their first match. This video also announces the co-main event of UFC 232, where Cris Cyborg meets Amanda Nunes. The two will test their skills for a 145-pound title.
Now let’s look in the past. Everybody was expecting an easy victory for Jon Jones five years ago. Yet, UFC 165 is remembered by one of the most interesting title matches ever. “Viking” simply entered the cage and fought like a real warrior.
“Mauler” surprised Jon Jones with his aggressive style. He was landing outstanding punches and even cut “Bones” open in the first round after a spectacular left hand. Alexander Gustafsson also became the first man to score a takedown versus Jon Jones. Almost every round was even and tough to score. “The Mauler” also hurt Jones with a spinning back elbow in the fifth round! “Bones” won this bloody and battered war via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46).
Alexander Gustafsson (18-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) earned a score of 2-1 in his last three fights. He lost the title shot at UFC 192 on October 3, 2015, to Daniel Cormier. Then he rebounded back with a victory over Jan Blachowitz at UFC Fight Night 93 on September 3, 2016. On May 28, 2017, at UFC Fight Night 109, “Bones” taught Glover Teixeira a lesson. “Mauler” won via fifth-round KO. He even proposed his girlfriend after the match!
Jones’ last fight was against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017. Originally, Jon Jones (22-1, 1NC MMA, 16-1, 1 NC UFC) won via head kick and punches. But the nightmare started when his samples were positive on Turinabol. Yet, he somehow slipped through with a 15-month ban by USADA, following “substantial assistance rule”. Jones’ penalty expired on October 28, 2018.
UFC 232 is set for December 29, 2018, at T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both fighters haven’t fought for a long time. What are your thoughts on the new UFC 232 promo video? Do you think Alexander Gustafsson can defeat Jon Jones?
