UFC 221 Weigh-In Results: Romero Misses The Weight In The First Attempt, Came At 188.3

UFC 221 weigh-ins held on Friday night (February 9th, 2018).

UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero missed weight by 3.3 pounds at UFC 221 weigh-ins held on Friday night (February 9th, 2018) for his scheduled main event UFC interim middleweight title bout against Luke Rockhold in Perth Australia.

Rockhold was able to make weight by weighing in at 185 pounds. Romero had to be 185 pounds or less to fight for the title, and he came in at 188.3. He has two hours to drop the weight and reach the middleweight limit.

The worst case scenario is if Yoel Romero is unable to make the weight, which would force theUFC to make it a non-title fight for him. This is not what the promotion had in mind when booking him at this event. Keep in mind that if Rockhold wins the fight, then he is the interim champion.

Romero took the fight on short notice. Luke Rockhold was supposed to challenge Robert Whittaker for the undisputed UFC middleweight title, but Whittaker fell injured and withdrew Jan. 13.

UFC 221 is set to take place on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Perth Arena in Perth, Australia.
